Composite Video

Composite video is an analog video signal that combines brightness, color, and sync information into a single channel. It typically uses an RCA connector, often marked with a yellow plug.

This format was widely used in older surveillance systems, televisions, and VCRs. Although composite video offers lower image quality than digital formats, it remains compatible with many legacy devices.

In CCTV applications, composite video allows for simple setup and low-cost installation. However, it has limitations in resolution and clarity compared to HD and IP-based systems.

Today, many security systems have moved to digital video, but composite connections still serve as a reliable option for basic monitoring or backup setups.
