Balun Connector Guide

A balun (short for “balanced to unbalanced”) is a small device that allows video signals to transmit over twisted pair cables, like Cat5 or Cat6, instead of traditional coaxial cables.

For example, security installers often use baluns to send analog video from cameras to recorders using standard network cabling. This approach reduces costs and simplifies installation.

Baluns also help maintain signal quality over long distances. While some models are passive, others are active and can amplify the signal.

By using baluns, surveillance systems can remain flexible, efficient, and compatible with existing infrastructure.
